Chapter 1 css

One of the longest chapters i have ever read in my life. But I did learn about few things in this chapter though. One it is true when they say CSS is not designer friendly, it is going to take a while to get use to, it was created for deigners by technologists. In the design world accessibility is viewed as an external factor.one thing that caught my attention was how they said our creative control has been hampered by the limited performance of browsers, unless we are prepared to sacrifice the purity of our documents by using presential mark up or choose to work solely in flash. That basically had to do with Moving toward Transcendent CSS. Another thing they break down is the principles of Transcendent CSS, the steps are Not all browsers see the same design, use all available CSS selectors, use css3 where possible to look the future, use javascript and the DOM to plug the holes in css, avoid using hacks and filters, use semantic naming conventions and microformats, share your ideas and collaborate with others. This is some of the stuff i found interesting in this chapter.

a. What is the purpose of the site?

The purpose of this website is To watch videos.

b. Who is the intended audience?

The intended audience is people who want to be entertained at the moment, youtube has pretty much anytype of video you can think of.

c. Do you think that the site reaches its intended audience? Why or Why not?

I think it would be an understatement if i said that the site reaches its intended audience, pretty much anybody you know goes on youtube.com. And the videos are proof of that, there are videos with over 100 million views on there.

d. Is the site useful to you? Yes or No?

Yes it is because there might be a scene from a movie i want to see, then I can pull it up in youtube, or there might be a song i haven’t heard in a while, it will more than likely be on youtube and I can listen to it.

e. List one interseting fact or issue that this site addresses.

If you have your own youtube account, and you have 1000 subscribers then you can get paid for every view and comment on your videos.

f. Would you encourages others to visit the site?

If they haven’t already then yes I would.

g. How could this site be improved?

The site could be improved by it not being such a hassle to make a profile or it taking forever to upload a video. Or it should let you be able to make another account with the same email address.

Chapter 8

Communication is the subject of this chapter. They say it is the most important part of design, I agree with them on that. You need communication for client projects and other stuff like that. They also say it is the most overlooked aspect. When communicating, we probably spend 40 percent of our day doing so through our own work, like the internet, e-mail, and others. It is very important when you are trying to communicate with a client to express your knowledge, or with other people period. When dealing with clients, you have to have a certain way to talk to them. Say If you are trying to get business from a random person and try and turn him into a client then you would need to give them a pitch. When trying to pitch to them, if you talk to them the right way and say the right things then you could have business. Now Unpaid creative pitching can cost you money, in materials and resources. That usually only happens when it is a small business that nobody knows about though. So if you have that right creative pitch it can help you out in your business or it also can help you get a job to. The whole chapter was pretty good, but this is what i mostly found interesting.

Chapter 7

Out of all the chapters, this would probably be my most favorite one. This chapter talks about Video editing. They start off with giving a brief history about video editing, they basically are saying that they cut out a strip of film to change timing and order of events. The purpose was to tell a more interesting story. Some of the things they got into that i thought were intersting was maintaining flow. They say that it needs to flow seamlessly so the viewer is completely unaware of the technical process. Another one is Continuity, good continuity is when you barely know any cuts and editing, you have to make everything blend in. Next One is Editing Applications, the best ones the author said in  her opinion were Media composer, Apple Final Cut Pro, and And Adobe Premier Pro. Next Thing they talked about was Tools, some of the tools is the ripple tool, roll tool, slip tool, and the slide tool. Last thing i found interesting was the Automate to sequence, it will perform your edit for you. Other than that I pretty much enjoyed this chapter.

chapter 6

This chapter was pretty interresting, the reason why is because it was increasing my knowledge of color. Color defines a lot, i think in my opinion a picture is nothing without color. This capter ends up going into the meaning of some of the colors like red, they say it is great for attracting attention. For yellow, they say it is used for a warning against stings or bites. Orange, it used to signify warmth, and also can be seen as energetic, cheerful, and brash. For blue, it signifies the cold, winter, clarity, liquid or ice, i totally agree with that. The next one i totally agree with to, green represents nature, growth, renewal, or fertility. They say Purple can suggest pomposity and conceit. Pink associates itself with girls, toys, dolls, and makeup. For white, it represents purity, innocence, virtrue, truth,  empowerment, and sacredness. And Gray can represent the industry.

Chapter 5 - Type

Over the years typography has changed. In the beggining they get into detail with typograghy.they describe the way of typography, the art of it and the typefaces. Typography was developed in europe, in Germany in the fiftenth century. It went from hand written manuscripts to typing. When typing there is two things that you have to thing about, the actual meaning of the word and and how the typeface looks, because it can define the story. Thats why typefaces are important to find the right typeface because if you dont people will probably have the wrong idea.  There will be times where you dont have a typeface you want or need but you can buy them, if you illegally download it and use it for a project you want profit on then you will be sued. But you can use dafont.com to downoad fonts though but that is just for school work or anything else. But that is all i found interrsting in this chapter.

Chapter 4 Animation

This chapter begins with going into the history of animation, it has no actual date where it started. The idea of making still drawings has been developed for over centuries though. One of the earlist moving technologies was the magic lantern. It would try and fool you and make you think that a single image would be moving. That is something i thought i found pretty interesting. Next thing they get into is computer animation, they explain how it is a younger art form and has not developed like traditional animation. then they name common animation terms like stop-frame animation, cell animation, and rotoscoping. Later on they got into how velocity describes the rate of change of an objects position as it moves. Then they got into animation types. There are 3 animation types, straight ahead animation, pose to pse animation, and computer generated animation. This is some of the information i found interesting in this chapter.
